Alta Vista Information received from a user of this page.
I just received this from Alta Vista
Dear AltaVista Customer
Since AltaVista made its ground-breaking announcement of its intention to
launch an unmetered internet access package on 6th March 2000, the entire UK
access market has transformed dramatically.
The Oftel ruling on Friday 26 May 2000 will move the entire internet pricing
structure away from price per minute charging towards a flat-rate standard
charge model, as championed by AltaVista. The implications of the change are
numerous, but most importantly, the battle for Internet dominance will move
away from price and towards quality of content and service.
AltaVista Internet Access will launch on 30 June 2000. This product is just
the start of AltaVista's intention to lead and encourage the British public
through the next stage of the internet revolution. It will initially cost
£51 (+VAT), and will enable the user to seamlessly transfer into the new
flat rate access product as soon as possible.
In keeping with AltaVista's commitment to quality of service to its
customers a helpline has already been established to deal with enquiries
about AltaVista Internet Access. AltaVista chose to take control of its own
customer support in response to the major concerns about levels of customer
service, reported to MORI, from over a third of internet users.
The UK industry can now concentrate on a serious challenge to the rest of
Europe in the digital economy. AltaVista believes that as a result of this
announcement, 50% of the UK population will be online within six months.
We look forward to welcoming you as one of the first subscribers to this
exciting new offering. For more information, please call 0870 876 7953 -
call charged at national rate or visit:
