Red Ant Email I received from a satisfied user.
Note: I have disabled the RedHotAnt links - thanks to everyone who let me know that this service had shut down.
"There is a new ISP provider called RedHotAnt who can be found at www.redhotant.com who are currently offering unmetered internet access for 24 hours a day 7 days a week for a very reasonable price; however prices are due to increase from 2nd May 20000. You will need to check their website for full details. You do not need to change your telecom provider or have any special box or switch connected to you phone line. They also support ISDN,even offering support for 128K by pair bonding (much to my amazement); but the only times I have really be able to achieve a stable connection at this speed is late at night; from midnight onwards is usually OK.
RedHotAnt, by their own admission, are having some teething problems and I have had some problems connecting first time (but not always); however, I have always been able to get through after re-dialling, although I have had sometimes to try a few times before getting on line. I have had some dropped lines and on the odd occasion the connection has not appeared good and I have dropped the line myself but when I have immediately dialled back in I have always been able to obtain a good connection; although I might have had to tried a few times. When properly connected, usually at 64K, the service is absolutely fine and equal to the best.
RedHotAnt is definitely worth signing up to at the price on offer up to 2nd May 2000 and RedHotAnt is certainly a move in the right direction for unmeterd access but you will probably experience some problems and at the moment I will not be cancelling my subscription to my main ISP which is BT Internet."
I really appreciate this kind of information, it is useful to users of the page. If anyone else would like to submit a review of their FREE 0800 ISP email me at . ( Sorry, email currently disabled ). Let me know if you want your name/email address included otherwise I won't post them.
Some info. received from a user of the pages.
I don't know if you are interested or can legally warn people that the RedHotAnt service is very poor.
I signed over from Free4all to the redhotant service when it was first set up. In Theory, yes it's a great service but in reality it is not. There have been many teething problems, which was fine we all were pretty patient but they do not seem to be doing anything to resolve connection difficulties, sometimes taking upto 1 hour during busy periods. When trying to phone Tech. Services you just get an answerphone that cuts you off after about 1 minute and they don't reply to E-mails sent to there Tech services.
And some more info from a user (12th October 2000) - Oh, by the way, you have a comment about RedHotAnt 0800 ISP. It has actually changed and at peak times you have to try 3 times b4 getting through. Daytime, there isnt a problem.
